Day 304 - Kentucky Fried Chicken

Happy Halloween All! We gathered up our little chicken and headed out with our friends for some trick-or-treating tonight. O did NOT want to keep his chicken head on. The majority of the time he was a headless (well Owen head) chicken. :) Here's a few of my favorites from the evening. Hope you all had a great Halloween. There is waaaay too much candy laying around here and we didn't have nearly enough treaters show up! What is a girl to do?

Day 303 - Cake Smash

I finally got to do my first cake smash yesterday. Happy 1st birthday little Z!

And a snap of the two wild men taking a break yesterday and watching Cars! These two are something else. I can only imagine the hell they are going to raise 13 years from now!

Day 301 - Pumpkin!

Owen brought home a new pumpkin from school today. Late this afternoon we decided to do a little carving. Well...I did the carving and he helped do a little scooping. I think it turned out kinda cute! :)

Day 300 - Fall

I love fall. I love the colors. And the crisp, cool air.

Day 298 - So Big

This morning O and I loaded up to go to the pumpkin farm. We stopped at the ATM, drove the 15 minute trip, and pulled up only to find they are closed during the week. Boo. I suppose I should have checked before going. So we went to the park for a little while. He played on the giant ship there and then we walked out on the dock where we saw a man catch a little bluegill. Then we went down a trail for a tiny bit and walked out on another little dock. All the while I had my camera in hand, of course. I'm trying to get a great shot of him for our Christmas card. I still haven't gotten "the one" but I'm working on it. While editing these pictures it dawned on me how old he looks! My little boy is getting so big! He looks like a little boy here and not my little baby anymore. I can't believe he will be 3 very soon. *sigh* Time flies when you're having fun and enjoying life I suppose.

Day 296 - Domestic Violence Coalition

On Saturday a photog friend and I went downtown to photograph a ceremony for the Domestic Violence Coalition of Nashville. We have a friend that works for the Sheriff's department downtown and he asked us last year to do this event & again this year. Its such a moving and touching event. Its an awards ceremony for the year and also a remembrance ceremony. At the end the names of all those killed due to domestic violence for the year are read aloud and family members, friends, etc throw a rose off the bridge into the Cumberland river as a tribute to them.

There are friends

And children

There are smiles - this woman and her children are now free from her abuser.

There are tears

There is reflection and remembrance

And tribute

Its such a touching event and I'm glad to be able to capture some of the moments from the event.

In other news - my boys just walked in from a weekend at the lake! My mom and grandmother came to visit this weekend. They stayed here with me Friday night and my sister came over and we had a ladies night. We went to eat Mexican and then to Target and JCPenney. It was so much fun. Saturday night I went over to my sisters and ate dinner with them. This morning I went to Church where I had to work mediashout, then I came home and relaxed. Its been a very nice weekend. I'm glad to have my boys home finally. Now for a big spaghetti dinner. :)

Day 293 - The Lonely Cake

I had a shoot this morning with a friends little boy who just turned one yesterday. This was going to be my first cake smash and I was so excited. Funny how things turn out...little man was not a happy subject today. So here is his little cake...all sad and lonely and in tact...we are going to try again tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow I can post a pic of a little cutie with cake all over his face. :)

Day 292 - The Cheese Stuff

I think my child could live on cheese. Last night he ate his bowl of potato soup then filled the bowl 1/2 way up with shredded cheese. I got my camera out and captured the progression of his cheese stuff. Its rather funny watching his facial expressions change as he stuffs, chews, swallows, etc.

Day 290 - Bubbles

Hello bubble boy! I was going for a santa look here, but it just wasn't happening. ha! And yes, I was standing in the tub over top of him with my camera pointed down at the water! I'm so proud of him for laying down in the tub though, I thought we would never get to this point. He is not a fan of water in his face, understandably, but we've always had issues washing his hair. He's coming around!

Day 289 - The B Fam

I went to E-town over the weekend to spend some time with one of my besties and photograph her family. Here are a few of my favorites so far from the session. We had a great visit. I sure wish we lived closer, but it could be worse.

Day 288 - Doughnut Trance

He's in a trance, staring at the TV, doughnut in hand. I wondered for a minute if he was going to fall asleep that way!

Day 287 - I heart Fall

I'm way behind again. I've made it this far it would be a shame to not finish, ugh!! In an effort to get on it again, I grabbed my camera when O and I went out back this morning. My efforts paid off, aside from the hand chop. I still love it. :) Happy Fall Y'all!

Day 279 - Zoo

I just want to start by saying Fall Break Sucks. Why exactly my 2-year old needs a 2 week fall break is beyond me. I'm tired. I can't get anything done. I'm irritable. I don't know how people with multiple children do it...therefore I won't be having any more! Just a little vent.

Anyway---since it is fall break and all, we are getting stir crazy and needed to get out today. We have a membership to the Nashville zoo so we made a trip down there this morning. It's really nice weather for going to the zoo so why the heck not. PLUS, I needed something to wear him out for a nap. It was nice. I really downsized this time going in. No stroller. No wagon. Just my big purse, my camera around my neck, me and O. We went into the Unseen New World exhibit for the first time. Normally we don't go in there because you can't take a stroller or wagon, etc. I think Owen really enjoyed it. While in there he overheard some people mentioning the potty and of course, he just had to go. Why do children have to use every public bathroom they find? I personally despise public bathrooms. But he did go in the potty so I can't complain. Here are some pics from the day.

I was hoping to catch his reflection in one of the glass displays, but he wouldn't stay still long enough. Low light, high ISO, wide open and still a slow shutter. Oh well. The back of his head will do. :)

$.30 of pure joy. Here he's putting money down the twisty thing that you drop a penny in - or quarter if your mom runs out of penny's - and it spins down and around down into a money trap. What a genius way to get free money. Maybe I need one of these in my yard for passers by.

The flamingo exhibit is new since the last time we went to the zoo. I loved them. I could have spent a long time here taking photos of them but it was crowded and I didn't want to take my eyes off O for too long. What interesting creatures. Can you imagine doing everything standing on one leg? Do they ever sit down?

Taking a snack break. The good thing about being zoo memebers is you also get a discount on food. Its not much but hey, it makes up for that $.30cents down the money trap. ;) We each got a drink and a big back of popcorn to share for $5. I have to wonder if she forgot to charge me for his juice. Oh well.

We stayed for about an hour and a half, stopped by to see Daddy at work, then headed home where he took a 3 hour nap. And I joined him for 2 of those hours. Sweet success.
