Day 288 - Doughnut Trance

He's in a trance, staring at the TV, doughnut in hand. I wondered for a minute if he was going to fall asleep that way!

Day 287 - I heart Fall

I'm way behind again. I've made it this far it would be a shame to not finish, ugh!! In an effort to get on it again, I grabbed my camera when O and I went out back this morning. My efforts paid off, aside from the hand chop. I still love it. :) Happy Fall Y'all!

Day 279 - Zoo

I just want to start by saying Fall Break Sucks. Why exactly my 2-year old needs a 2 week fall break is beyond me. I'm tired. I can't get anything done. I'm irritable. I don't know how people with multiple children do it...therefore I won't be having any more! Just a little vent.

Anyway---since it is fall break and all, we are getting stir crazy and needed to get out today. We have a membership to the Nashville zoo so we made a trip down there this morning. It's really nice weather for going to the zoo so why the heck not. PLUS, I needed something to wear him out for a nap. It was nice. I really downsized this time going in. No stroller. No wagon. Just my big purse, my camera around my neck, me and O. We went into the Unseen New World exhibit for the first time. Normally we don't go in there because you can't take a stroller or wagon, etc. I think Owen really enjoyed it. While in there he overheard some people mentioning the potty and of course, he just had to go. Why do children have to use every public bathroom they find? I personally despise public bathrooms. But he did go in the potty so I can't complain. Here are some pics from the day.

I was hoping to catch his reflection in one of the glass displays, but he wouldn't stay still long enough. Low light, high ISO, wide open and still a slow shutter. Oh well. The back of his head will do. :)

$.30 of pure joy. Here he's putting money down the twisty thing that you drop a penny in - or quarter if your mom runs out of penny's - and it spins down and around down into a money trap. What a genius way to get free money. Maybe I need one of these in my yard for passers by.

The flamingo exhibit is new since the last time we went to the zoo. I loved them. I could have spent a long time here taking photos of them but it was crowded and I didn't want to take my eyes off O for too long. What interesting creatures. Can you imagine doing everything standing on one leg? Do they ever sit down?

Taking a snack break. The good thing about being zoo memebers is you also get a discount on food. Its not much but hey, it makes up for that $.30cents down the money trap. ;) We each got a drink and a big back of popcorn to share for $5. I have to wonder if she forgot to charge me for his juice. Oh well.

We stayed for about an hour and a half, stopped by to see Daddy at work, then headed home where he took a 3 hour nap. And I joined him for 2 of those hours. Sweet success.

Day 278 - Noodle Head

Owen is so much like me. He's now developing my love for noodles. Here he is eating the plain cooked spaghetti out of the strainer last night. Nothing suprises me anymore. I just take a photo and keep on going. :)

Day 276 - Welcome Home, Daddy

Owen and I were outside playing when his daddy got home from being gone this weekend. I was actually working on getting photos for the clickinmoms candid photo challenge and I had the perfect opportunity when Chris got home. Here's the moment I captured when Chris scooped O up in his arms.

Day 275 - Walden Farm Pumpkin Patch

This morning Owen and I met my sister and nephew at a Pumpkin Patch called Walden Farm. I have to say this is the best pumpkin farm I have ever been to! Its so big and there was so much for the boys to do. We started off with the hayride, then walked around looking at some animals. In an effort to be a kid again and show Owen what face painting is all about I got a pumpkin painted on my face. It didn't work and I was then probably the only adult there with a pumpkin on her face. The boys played with a few toy booths they had there, and then Owen got to sit on a tractor, and ride a little ride that is pulled behind a lawn mower. By that time we were all hungry so we walked over and got some lunch, followed by a trip to the pumpkin/mums for sell section where we loaded up on some more pumpkins. It was a great time and here are some shares from our adventure.

For giggles, I'll share with you the things I didn't expect to find/learn/have happen at the pumpkin farm.
1-Baby calves pee for a reeeeaaallly long time
2-I sure didn't know that's how turkey's do "the deed"
3-Facepaint makes my face itch
4-Who knew Owen would pee on my hand at a pumpkin farm during his first time using a porta-pottie. Oh joy. Thank goodness for baby wipes and hand sanitizer.
:)

Day 274 - ARJ

Yesterday I took some photos of O's bff...Or attempted to. I'm learning the closer I am to the subject, the harder it is! Here are two of my favorites from the shoot. This one where it looks like he is dancing just totally cracks me up! Play that funky music, D!

What is up with all of these boys and these beautiful lashes? I'm envious. Its just not fair. :)
