Day 120 - Wasabi

A lot of times on Friday night the hubs and I order pizza from our favorite little place, Ziggy's. Tonight I was feeling frisky...or brave...or having cabin fever...however you want to put it. Usually we don't go to restaurants much because O just doesn't like to sit still, but we decided to go out to eat as a family to a local Japanese place called Wasabi. I was thinking that it would entertain Owen enough for us to be able to eat and that he would actually like the food too since he loves chicken and rice. Well......I was right!!! He did so amazing and it was a lot of fun. I miss going out to eat so much. He loved the Miso soup! He even liked it after I added soy sauce to mine...cause that's how momma likes hers. :)

He wasn't a fan of the salad with ginger dressing, but that's okay. Not many kids I know would eat that I'm sure. After our soup, salad and a sushi roll the infamous chef with his cart came rolling out to the Hibachi grill! I couldn't wait to watch O as he made that big fire. He was a little scared/confused and a lot curious, but it was so cute. I think this is his face (so funny) as he was watching the first bits of steam rolling off the grill, not as the big fire came. I wasn't shooting that because I wanted to witness his reaction.

Here's one of he and Chris watching the show.

Owen loved the soup, rice, chicken and even ate a little bit of grilled shrimp, too. His little belly was bulging when he was done. I love it. I was so proud of him. We even got compliments by our fellow table sharers on how well behaved he is! What?!? We confessed that it had just been a good night. ;)

On our way out we topped his night by letting him look at a motorcycle in the parking lot. Oh how he loves cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, buses, etc so this was like dessert for him.

What a great family night! I told Chris we would be eating at Wasabi for the next year. ha!

Day 119 - I've been waiting for this!

Wow. After a long day, there's nothing like kicking back in your jammies and catching some of your favorite shows. I've been looking forward to this moment all afternoon. Its been a long day, especially since O woke at 5:45 this AM!

Day 118 - The Old Clothesline

As you may or may not know, we've been at my moms house in Kentucky for the past two nights. I honestly did not pick up my camera until this morning. Needless to say I have missed a few days in my 365...but the good thing is its my 365, and that's okay. :) I'll get back on track. It was a foggy, wet morning this morning in Kentucky. I saw this beautiful bush in bloom out my brothers old room window that had water droplets on it so I had to get out there. Its funny that I decided to go with a photo of the old clothesline instead. I really wished at the time I had a stool or ladder to get me up higher where I could shoot down the line. There were waterdrops hanging off of it, but I didn't. I think my mom still uses this line from time to time to hang sheets and stuff on when she feels like it. I bet the poles for it are as old as I am, or older.

Owen and I returned home this morning. Its nice to be back. There really is no place like your own home and your own bed. He proved that by taking a 3-hour nap this afternoon...and I snuck one in as well. It has left me wide awake late at night. Last night was my friends brothers memorial service. It was a beautifully touching and emotional tribute to his life. My friend has such strength. She gave the most eloquent speech about her brother. She is amazing. I'm so glad I was able to be there. Rest in Peace Brandon. Many prayers for you and your family, Brandi.

Day 115 - Big Boy Cup

I've given O a big boy cup at dinner the past few nights. At what age should he be drinking out of a big cup? He seems to do okay when he tries, but last night he had more fun dipping his fork in it than anything. I swear kids can find a way to make a mess of anything! Or break anything. He breaks something nearly every day. Its as if it is secretly his mission.

I will be out of town for a few days, but will catch back up when I return. A lifelong friend of mine lost her brother last Thursday unexpectantly. O and I are getting ready to head to KY in a few minutes so I can attend the visitation and Memorial service tomorrow. Please say prayers for this family as they grieve his loss.

Day 114 - Stormy Sky

We had some storms roll through on Saturday night so this is a shot of what the sky looked like before the 2nd one got here. Just a few hours prior to this it was sunny and pretty after it had been raining all day. It was weird. I ended up laying on the couch and falling asleep around 9pm because I've come down with a cold. Its no fun.

Day 113 - Hammock with the Hubs

I laid in the hammock with my hubby for a little while this afternoon. It was nice. Especially since he found the better hanging hooks and there wasn't a fear of falling. Last week when we first hung the hammock up he fell twice testing out the durability of the hooks he used. I've gotta say, it was pretty funny. Initially my plan was to get a pic of his and Owen's feet. You know how that goes! Owen didn't really cooperate so I went another direction. As we were laying there he came and climbed on top of us and was trying to climb up to the top of the hammock up past our feet. My child is a monkey. :)

Day 112 - Nada

I don't think I took a single picture yesterday...

Day 111 - After

As promised, here's a shot of the big guy after his haircut. He doesn't look all THAT bad. :)

Day 110 - I love these

When all else fails...I'll photograph a flower.
What are these types of flowers? I love how big and bursting they are. I took this white ones photo laying on a silver tray on my countertop. I had originally thought about converting it to b&w, but am happy with this conversion.

Day 109 - Wild Hair

My friend called me up yesterday morning and a lot of her patients had cancelled so she got off work early, around 10am. I invited her over for a cup of coffee, mmmm. Anyway, she got to looking at Metro and feeling sorry for him so she got a wild hair & decided he needed a haircut. Oh boy. He's never had a haircut before. I didn't even know what he would look like! But what the heck. I busted out the clippers and even put the "Remmington" cape on him and tried to put a clip in his hair for the before picture. Ha! He hates me. hehe. :) Several pretzels, an old hair brush, clippers, scissors and about 45 minutes later we were done. Here is Sarah holding him for his before shot and a picture of some of the hair we removed! I wasn't able to get a good after shot so I will have to leave you hanging for now. I will say...he's a bit...how should I say it...choppy. ;)

Day 108 - Vrooom!

Hubs bought a new lawn mower today. When I say new, I should say its new to us...his favorite place to shop is craigslist. I told him, "You know, stores do sell things." He kills me. Craiglist is the first place he looks for anything! But I have to admit, he does get some great deals. Today's post is a pic of O playing on our old lawn mower. Hubs had parked it here for me to get some shots of so we can now put it on craigslist. ;) Everyone in my house is so exhausted after our busy weekend. Owen is crashed out on the couch, and Chris is crashed in the recliner. Like father like son.

Day 107 - Boys, Boys, Boys!

Wowser! Our house was full of litte ones running around everywhere yesterday--all BOYS! Two of my friends came down from Louisville and Elizabethtown and brought their little ones with them. It was so great to see the kids and let them play together and, of course, visit with my girlfriends. My friend Sarah also came over and brought her son, Drew--it was madness here yesterday afternoon. When the sun started to set I took a few pics of my friends' little ones. Day 107's post is a pic of the 3 boys having a popsicle snack, then 2 shots from the shoot. I'm always amazed I'm even able to get a single shot with these little busy bodies. :)

Day 106 - Flowers

I seem to be on a flower kick lately. These are some of the flowers that hubby got me for my birthday weeks ago. I have to say that these little bunches of flowers from Kroger last forever! I love the seperate them and put them in little vases placed around everywhere. I took this one playing around with my newest lens yesterday. We had another very busy day yesterday preparing for a visit from two of my friends today. House work, cleaning, planting, etc. I've been in the yard so much this week that I have a tanktop famers tan. ha! The girls and there two little boys will be arriving around 1 today and are staying the night. This should be interesting! We're having a big photo shoot tonight at sunset in the yard. It looks like the weather is going to cooperate perfectly. Then when these rowdy boys get to bed us ladies will get to spend some much overdue girl time on the deck tonight. I can't wait!

Day 105 - Miller...aka "Fish"

I've been wanting to get a fish for a while now. This afternoon I asked O if he wanted to go get a fish and he said yes. After asking him what we should name the fish, he said "Fish." I've was so excited to go get our new fish, but like most things, I had more excitement that O ended up having. He was more excited to push the cart around the store than help me pick out a fish. He acted horrible in Petsmart! Ugh, it was bad. So much so that I have told him that the fish is now mine and not his. With that said, I have decided to name him Miller. Because thats what I needed by the time we got home...a Miller!! This pic really doesn't do him justice. He's a lot prettier in person. We have a 14 day guarantee on him...hubs and I were just looking at him and I think/hope he's sleeping. ;) He will probably die on day 15 knowing my luck. Anyway...meet Miller. Or Fish. Depending on how O is acting in the days to come I may let him have him back and name him Fish. But I'm kinda attached to ol Miller now. :)

Day 104 - Backlit Dandelions

Oh these pesky things are everywhere! But they sure do make for a lovely photo. And even more joy when your little boy picks one special just for you. I'll take a weed anyday if it comes from him. :) I totally walked and stooped all over my neighbors yard tonight as the sun was at its yummy light hour to take some pics of the dandelions. With my new lens, I must add! I recently bought a 30mm 1.4 from a fellow clickin' mom. I think I'm going to love it!

Day 103 - Fuschia

That's the name and color of this gorgeous hanging plant. I got a wild hair yesterday and decided to do some yard work. I now remember why I don't like it! I'm sore today, but have yet again gone and gotten some more flowers and plan to get out there with O after his nap today. My fingers hurt from pulling weeds out of our patio pavestones. Our landscaping has really gotten out of control. We just weren't able to give it much attention last year. Maybe this year we will do better. I hope so! Weeds really suck.

Day 102 - Vase

I clipped some of the flowers that hubby bought me for my birthday and put them in this vase on our deck a few days ago. Can you believe this cute little vase only cost $1 in the dollar section of Target?!? I've been wanting to take a picture of them so today was the day. I used one of our cushions in the background to provide the blue and then added a texture. I think it looks kind of like a painting. :)

Day 101 - M & C

I had a fun photo shoot on Sunday afternoon of two brothers from my Church. This was exciting for me because I'm used to photographing children that don't sit still OR much less listen and provide their own ideas. We met at a park not too far from my house and had a lot of fun. Here's one from the shoot. I still have quite a few to edit!

Day 100 - So Close!

Hubby started installing our backsplash tiles today. They look AMAZING! Oh, I love my kitchen now! What a difference. If you didn't see the before pics, go back into my archives. Oh it was awful. Now we just have to let this mortar dry and then he has to grout and do the finishing touches. :)

Day 99 - Pit-stop at the Farm

On our way home from Gatlinburg yesterday we stopped off at Chris' grandparents house in Wartburg, TN. Its a small town about 45 minutes from Knoxville. They live on a farm that is backdropped by beautiful mountains. We spent the afternoon there visiting and Owen got to go on a few tractor rides. He loved it! It was great to see them and much overdue.

Day 98 - Dinosaurs, Boots & A Dip!

Our second day in Gatlinberry was another non-stop one. Hubs had his conference all day so that left little man and I to find something to do alone. It was a rainy nasty day so we headed to Pigeon Forge to the Dinosaur Walk Museum.

Owen honestly had more fun in the gift shop and could really have cared less about the dinosaurs. I saw more dinosaurs than he did. Oh well, I tried right? After that we went to a souvenir shop where he picked out a truck with his Easter money. He loves that truck. Then I took him to a Pancake House with me. Eating out with Owen is typically not a fun experience. I talked to him before and told him that it was just going to be him and mommy and that he needed to be good for me. And by golly, he was. I was so impressed. And he ate great, too. After that we headed back to the hotel for nap...WRONG. He just won't nap in a hotel. Too much action. After a few hours hubs got out a little early and we headed back to Pigeon Forge to the Boot Outlet. Yep. The whole fam got some real cowboy boots! hahaha! I've been wanting some for a while now so I figured why not. I'm making Music City proud. ;) I have to say they smell lovely. I told my husband this is what a coach bag smells like, smell!!! And they really are pretty! We then headed back to the room again because Owen had a total meltdown in the boot shop for lack of nap and being confined to his stroller. He finally crashed then and hubs and I sat outside and watched a storm move in and had a much needed drink.

We didn't let Owen sleep too long because it was late so we woke him up and he and hubs went for a dip in the pool! His first swim of the season. The Lodge we stayed in had a really nice indoor pool with a waterfall, multiple levels, etc. At first he was a little hesitant but by the end Chris said he was doing great in there. I hope to get him in a swimming class of some sort this summer.

Well, that's pretty much our last day in a nutshell. It was a nice trip. I'd like to go back sometime when hubs doesn't have to spend time working so I can actually shop. Alone. ;)
